How do I close my account?


I have forgotten my username and/or password.  How can I log in?

If you provided your email address when your account was created, you can have your username and password sent to you by e-mail.  Just click here and follow the on-screen instructions.

If your account was set up by your school, company, or organization, your teacher or administrator will be able to help you.

If you don't have an e-mail address on file, or the address on file is incorrect, send an email to with the following information.  This information will allow us to look up your account:

  • Your name

  • Your phone number

  • Your mailing address

  • If you are a student and your account was provided to you by your school, let us know the school and teacher's name.

  • If you signed up yourself and are paying by credit or debit card, let us know the last 4 digits of the card number on file.

I am having a problem using my account.  Where can I get help?

If you are able to log in but are having difficulties with your account, you will find a list of common problems and solutions online.  Just log in with your username and password and click on the "support" link.  If your question is not answered there, feel free to contact us.

I am a parent who would like to sign up my children.  Which type of account should I sign up for?

If you are signing up more than one child, you can sign up for either individual accounts or a school account - whichever works best for your situation.  In general, a school account will be more cost-effective for larger families and individual accounts will be more cost-effective for smaller families.

An advantage of school accounts is that you will have access to administrator features, such as making assignments and creating custom exercises.  An advantage of individual accounts is that each child's subscription can be maintained separately.  For example, if one child finishes the course before another, you can just close the account of the child who is finished.

If you sign up for individual accounts, remember that each child must have a separate account.  Accounts cannot be shared.  If you sign up for a free trial for schools, please mention in the comments section that you are a parent signing up for your children.  This will ensure that your account is properly set up.

Is there a version of your software that will run without an Internet connection?

Sorry, no. Our site was designed to run solely from a web browser. This allows you to get started immediately, without having to purchase and install additional software. It also allows access to the training from any internet-connected computer.

What operating systems and web browsers does the web site work with?

The web site will work with Windows XP and later, along with all versions of Mac OS X.  The most common web browsers are fully supported:

  • Internet Explorer 6 and later (Windows)

  • Firefox 1.0 and later (Windows and Mac)

  • Safari 1.3 and later (Mac)

Other web browsers may work, but have not been tested.

Do you offer discounts for schools, companies, or other organizations?

YES!  Take a look at our pricing and ordering page.

I would like to evaluate your service for my organization.  Is it possible to get a free trial account so I can do this?

YES!  We offer a 30 day free trial for organizations.  Click here to apply for an account.

If my school or organization purchases now, can we start our subscription at a later date?

YES!  When placing your order, just let us know when you would like your subscription to begin. You can include the start date when sending us a purchase order, or specify a start date when ordering online.

Our school does not need access to the web site during the summer months.  Can the subscription be adjusted accordingly?

YES!  When placing your order, just us know when your summer vacation starts and ends, and we will make sure your school is not charged for this time.

I work for a school district with thousands of students. Can I upload the student information into the web site from a spreadsheet or database?

YES!  The first step is to use your spreadsheet or database program to export your student information as a tab-delimited text file (virtually all spreadsheet and database programs are able to do this). Then, upload this file into the web site and your accounts will be created.  You will find complete step-by-step instructions on the web site which cover how to format the tab-delimited text file and perform the upload.  The web site can generate usernames and passwords automatically, or you can specify your own.

Do you offer 10 key (numeric keypad) testing?

YES!  After signing up, you can find a group of 10 key tests in our Tests & Exercises section.  Note that your account must be in the self-guided mode.  Click on the "update account" or "preferences" link to change your mode if needed.

While testing is available, the site does not yet have a 10 key training program.  This will be considered for a future release of our software if there is enough demand.

I would like to test the typing skills of my employees or job candidates.  Can your site be used for this?

YES!  Once you've signed up your company, you will have access to an administrator account which can be used to create user accounts for each person you would like to administer a typing test to. You can assign specific typing tests to these users, and then generate a report which shows their scores.  For more information, click here.

How do I close my account?

Closing your account can be quickly and easily done online.  First, go to our home page, www.customtyping.com, then log-in with your username and password.  After logging in, click on the "Update Account" link.  Then, click on "Close Account", and follow the on-screen instructions.
